![]() ![]() It is a pretty walk through D’Aguilar National Park surrounded by forest and ancient plants, with a steep part toward the end where you decent down a gully to the site of the wreck (the wreck is still intact, but keeps getting smaller as apparently people have taken parts away over time). The wreck hails back to 1977 when a single pilot flew too low on the way back from Bundaberg and crashed on the mountain in bad weather. At the end of the walk is the Piper Comanche Wreck of the title Whilst it is now populated with markers (presumably due to the large number of people who have been lost here in the past) it is still easy to get lost in a few places, so I would recommend going with a group. I did this walk with the Brisbane Bushwalkers Club who knew the walk well. The Cit圜at stops at a pier on the park’s river frontage, and local buses ply nearby Brunswick Street. The park also has barbecues, toilet facilities, and a kiosk for coffee, ice-creams and snacks, though the prices there were bordering on extortionate. There’s some interesting modern sculptures in the park. It’s a shady spot for the youngsters to have fun. Set amongst the giant fig trees there’s an extensive playground for the youngsters, containing swings, rides, a fort and a huge climbing frame. One historical feature of the park is the bandstand rotunda built in 1915. The park also has a very pretty rose garden. There’s shady areas for picnics the jacaranda trees are plentiful but were not in flower at the time of our visit, though the poinciana trees were a blaze of fiery red, and very beautiful. There’s open spaces for sports activities. The park provides for a variety of low-key pleasures and interests. The Brisbane River forms one boundary to the park, and the historic Brisbane Powerhouse complex edges the park to the east. It’s a heritage-listed park, designed by Albert Herbert Foster and created in 1914. New Farm Park is one of Brisbane’s oldest parks. However, the best natural beauty lies in the northern state and across the mighty Mackinac Bridge.I visited this suburban park for the first time in February 2023, and was quite impressed with how pretty the park was, and the variety of activities it offered visitors. ![]() Every town has their beauty and highlights. The Detroit Riverwalk is a treasure.Ĭonsider taking 196 to 96 for South Haven, MI Saugatuck, MI Holland, MI Grand Rapids, MI Lansing, MI and maybe even an extension to Flint, MI Frankenmuth, MI Saginaw, MI Bay City, MI and Midland, MI. Detroit has several key museums and well known Greektown that lights up the city's nightlife. Dearborn, as stated, has the great state culteral highlight of Henry Ford Museum. Nice parks on the north end of town too and campus museums as well. Ann Arbor is probably known for more nightlife than anywhere else. Jackson, MI has an old (and present) prison to tour and the beautiful Cascade Park. ![]() Marshall, MI has several small museums and small town charm that holds a true shine in the state. Downtown has a depot you can eat at, and some other options on Michigan. Battle Creek, MI has the beautiful Federal Building which you can tour, and Binder Park Zoo. Michigan ave and Kalamazoo Zoo has plenty of options for eating and dining. Kalamazoo has highlights like Kalamazoo Airzoo and Gilmore Car Museum. Saint Joseph, MI nearby makes a nice stroll down the pier. Coming in on 94 Warren Dunes State Park will impress. Answer: I think all the replies above shed some good light on the state. ![]()
